Community Iftār

Join us for the Muslim Life annual banquet at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 15, in the Alice Haynes Room of Tyler Haynes Commons. This year, the banquet will be in the form of a Community Ifṭār (breaking of the fast meal) as our Muslim community will be observing the holy month of Ramaḍān. This banquet serves as an opportunity for Muslim Life at UR to introduce itself to the University, to celebrate spiritual achievements with neighboring Muslim student communities as well as the larger University community, and to raise awareness of Islāmic teachings, diversity of practices and culture within Islām, and the lives of Muslim students on campus.

We will be serving an array of food from Anokha Cuisine of India, including butter chicken, chicken biryani, and paneer tikka masala (vegetarian).

Program Itinerary:

7:15-7:40 p.m. Welcome, Introductions, and a Message from the Muslim Chaplain

7:40-7:45 p.m. Moment of Reflection

7:45-8:00 p.m. Breaking of the Fast/Appetizers

8:00-8:10 p.m. Maghrib (Prayer)

8:10-9:00 p.m. Dinner, Student Speakers, and Dessert

Note: We will be praying ʿIshā’ and tarawīḥ (night prayers) on campus following the Ifṭār in the Wilton Center.

We are very excited to host you and look forward to seeing you at the Ifṭār! The registration deadline is April 7, 2023.
