Worship Opportunities

The Chaplaincy supports many ways for students to worship, pray, reflect, and meditate with others on campus and in the wider Richmond community. Students are encouraged to connect with their own tradition and explore and learn from the traditions of others. We invite you to click below to learn more about regular worship and prayer opportunities.

  • Catholic Mass

Weekly Mass is provided through our Catholic Campus Ministry (CCM) every Sunday at 5 p.m. in Cannon Memorial Chapel. This weekly service brings together a vibrant group of students for worship and fellowship with one another. Students serve as lectors and Eucharistic ministers as well as vocalists and musicians.

In addition to weekly Mass, CCM provides opportunities for scripture study, weekly liturgical discussions, and rosary devotions.

For more information, please contact the Rev. Mr. Tom Mullen, Catholic Chaplain, at tmullen@richmond.edu.

  • Kairos Christian Service

Kairos is a weekly Christian worship service that is held at 8 p.m. on Tuesday nights in the choir loft of the Cannon Memorial Chapel. Each service focuses on a theme and question that help students to consider their lives and their relationship to the world around them in light of the Christian faith.

Kairos services are led by Chaplaincy staff members and students who serve on the Kairos Leadership Team. Each service includes scripture, hymns, contemporary music, prayer and candle lighting.

For additional information about Kairos, contact Bryn Taylor, Senior Associate University Chaplain.

  • Muslim Prayer

Friday/Jumuʿah Prayer is held weekly at 1 p.m. throughout the academic year.

If you have questions regarding specific prayer times, please contact Waleed Ilyas, Muslim Chaplain, for more information.

  • Shabbat Service

"More than Jews have kept Shabbat, Shabbat has kept the Jews." - Ahad Ha’am

As a ritual and communal practice, we welcome Shabbat every Friday at 5:30pm. Here we light the candles, drink grape juice, eat challah, and say blessings over it all. In addition, we sing, share stories, laugh, and celebrate. Shabbat services rotate through the course of the year based on student needs and student leaders, and we regularly enjoy a celebratory Shabbat meal in community. All are welcome!
