Blue Christmas

Because not all of us meet this time of year with joy, the Office of the Chaplaincy would like to invite you to Blue Christmas. Held on Thursday, December 3rd at 12:00 p.m. in Cannon Memorial Chapel, Blue Christmas is an interreligious service held for those who walk toward the holidays with a heavy heart, grieving, tired, worried and lonely. A reception with light refreshments will be held in the Wilton Center Interfaith Room (1st Floor) following the service.

The Office of the Chaplaincy presents the 36th Annual Christmas Candlelight Service of Lessons and Carols, Sunday, December 6th at 5:00 p.m and 8:00 p.m. in Cannon Memorial Chapel. The service will feature Schola Cantorum and the University Women's Chorale who will present new and traditional carols. Admission is free and open to all.

Study Break for the Soul

Come join the Office of the Chaplaincy staff in the Wilton Center on Tuesday, December 8th from 11 a.m. to 3 pm. for a break from exams, papers and studies. Come indulge yourself with good food, drinks, smoothies, body massages, lessons, arts & crafts, or just sit around and take a break!

One Book, One Campus: Dialogues in Social Justice
Be part of this a campus wide effort which annually encourages students, staff and faculty to read and discuss a selected book. The book selected for the 2009-2010 academic year is Guyland: The Perilous World Where Boys Become Men by Michael Kimmel. Join us in the fall for a one hour discussion as we explore what Kimmel has to say about masculinity. For more information, click here.

The Allies Institute
Are you in search of genuine community? Want to become more aware concerning issues of difference? Interested in knowing what you can do in response to discrimination? Consider attending the Allies Institute. All UR students (undergraduates, law school students, graduate students and continuing studies students) are invited to apply to attend.
