Weddings

A wedding is a sacred and exciting event. We celebrate with you and will do our best to support your desire to be married in Cannon Chapel.

The University’s events office can help you determine who is eligible to be married in the Chapel, how to reserve the chapel, and how to schedule a reception on campus.

You are welcome to invite a family minister who is ordained and in good standing by a recognized religious body to perform the service. The University chaplain may also be available to officiate. To check his availability, contact the Office of the Chaplaincy at (804) 289-8500.

Chapel Renovation

The Chapel will be closed for renovations beginning March 1, 2013.  Renovations are expected to conclude after November 2013.  For questions, please contact weddings@richmond.edu or call (804) 289-8585.

A Prayer for Those Married in Cannon Chapel

Gracious God,

You created human beings to share life with one another.

Fill those engaged to marry with overflowing joy.

Guide them into the mystery of sacred vows.

Give them courage to speak and to listen,

to inspire and to respond.

May their marriage always be a safe place for friend, family, child, and stranger.

For the world needs lovers as time goes by.

Amen.

Rev. Craig Kocher
