Hillel

Mission Statement

University of Richmond Hillel is a pluralistic organization for Jewish students to explore their religious, cultural, and spiritual identities among the backdrop of an elite liberal arts campus. We are committed to a multifaceted approach to Judaism that welcomes students of all backgrounds, and empowers them to lead meaningful lives informed by Jewish values and tradition. Among other things, there are opportunities for dynamic ritual observance, Torah study, social action engagement, social programming, and connection to Israel.

UR Hillel recognizes that each student celebrates their Jewishness in unique ways, and invites them to be a part of crafting Jewish community together in a way that enhances their identities, deepens their sense of spirituality, and fosters strong relationships among ourselves and the rest of the University of Richmond.

About Us

University of Richmond Hillel is proud member of the Hillel International movement, and we excitedly provide students opportunities to plan and implement Jewish programming on campus. We are also active participants in multifaith student programs through the Office of the Chaplaincy.

Hillel's purpose is to nurture the lives of Jewish undergraduate and graduate students so that they may enrich the Jewish people and the world. Hillel student leaders and professionals are dedicated to creating a pluralistic, welcoming and inclusive environment for Jewish college students, where they are encouraged to grow intellectually, spiritually and socially.
