The University of Richmond has a global and international focus, and to that end, it provides multiple opportunities for students to study abroad and engage with other cultures. Given the wealth of opportunities, share your reasons for applying to the Pilgrimage program.

Please share how Pilgrimage: Berlin connects to your own religious or spiritual tradition.

Tell us about your involvement in religious life here on campus and what personal spiritual practices you maintain to sustain your faith and spirituality during college.

This pilgrimage will include students who represent different religious traditions. Please explain how your engagement with those of other religions contributes to your understanding of your own faith commitments.

Describe an experience in which you have engaged with an individual from a different faith background, social location, or political persuasion. How did that conversation or encounter end? What did you learn about yourself through this encounter?

The pilgrimage course culminates in a travel intensive to Berlin with visits to sites of religious, historical, and political significance and discussions with diverse groups about the roles Holocaust memory and German history broadly play in modern society. How do you believe this pilgrimage experience will inform your own spiritual development and faith formation? How do you hope to use the knowledge and experience you gain in the future?

Each applicant is required to obtain two recommendations. Please provide contact information for these individuals below. At least one recommendation should be a professor or university staff person. Recommendations from other students and/or family members will not be considered among the two required recommendations. Applicants are responsible for contacting the individuals who will be completing their recommendations and providing them a link to the recommendation form found in sidebar. All forms are due by the application deadline, Wed., November 1. Applicants whose recommendation letters have not been received by this date will not be considered for participation in the pilgrimage.
