The University of Richmond has a global and international focus, and to that end, it provides multiple opportunities for students to study abroad and engage with other cultures. Given the wealth of opportunities, share your reasons for applying to the Pilgrimage program.

Please share how Pilgrimage: Camino de Santiago connects to your own religious or spiritual tradition.

Tell us about your involvement in religious life here on campus and what personal spiritual practices you maintain to sustain your faith and spirituality during college.

This pilgrimage will include students who represent different denominations within the Christian tradition. Please explain how ecumenism contributes to your understanding of your own faith commitments.

The pilgrimage course culminates in a travel intensive that includes a walking tour spanning 62.5 miles. Participants will engage in daily hikes of six to 12 miles. In addition to being prepared mentally, emotionally, and spiritually for the journey, participants must be physically fit. How is exercise already a part of your daily life, and how will you continue to prepare for the pilgrimage if selected as a participant?

Recommendations

Each applicant is required to obtain two recommendations. Please provide contact information for these individuals below. At least one recommendation should be a professor or university staff person. Recommendations from other students and/or family members will not be considered among the two required recommendations. Applicants are responsible for contacting the individuals who will be completing their recommendations and providing them a link to the recommendation form found in sidebar. All forms are due by the application deadline, Wed, November 1. Applicants whose recommendation letters have not been received by this date will not be considered for participation in the pilgrimage.
